3x "stations" across frieze ldn, featuring moving image, stills and sound pieces.
sound clash is an ongoing collaboration between hannah, and curator and sound artist, ben swaby selig who is the curatorial fellow with frieze and v&a east.
hannah has created visual responses to ben's research , through print, vinyl and moving image, to display alongside ben's two hour-long sound pieces.
"this year’s edition of Frieze London featured a research-based activation by Ben Swaby Selig, Curatorial Fellow with V&A East, drawing upon Jamaican sonic cultures and archival recordings from East London and Jamaica to explore notions of collective memory.
in collaboration with filmmaker and photographer Hannah Oliver, multiple sound stations placed throughout the fair will encourage playful migration and active listening, lifting intricate local histories from an area that has experienced rapid gentrification since its redevelopment into the Olympic Park.
the activation at Frieze will mark the first iteration of Selig’s Sound Clash, one of the events forming part of V&A East’s live back2back live programming strand prior to its opening in 2025."
